About

Vision

Thoughtful Simplicity

We have a simple church structure, with an emphasis on an informal setting for our gatherings. This
allows our church to be adaptable, trying new formats and adjusting easily if something disrupts our
original plans. We do not have paid staff, nor do we have complicated productions for our worship
services. Our goal is to remain flexible while also maintaining intentional organization.

Shared Leadership

We are led by an elected team of elders who delegate many of the routine tasks of the church to teams
of volunteers from the congregation. We focus on allowing members of the church to use their giftings
to serve the church, while maintaining an appropriate structure that is simple and organized. This
includes rotating teams of moderators, teachers, worship leaders, child care providers, and more who
contribute weekly to our gatherings.

Intentional Community

We strive to create a healthy environment for deep relationship building that leads to discipleship. Our
social gatherings often happen in each other’s homes, and usually involve food. For any who are
interested, we coordinate small discipleship teams and regularly create spaces for individuals to share
their stories with the church. Individual members of the church have started book and bible studies that
are open for any to attend and dig deeper into their faith together.

Spreading the Gospel

We seek to send out members to create new communities of Christians throughout our city and the
world. We don’t intend to alter our structure as we grow, instead we seek to develop leaders among us
who can start new churches. We invite both those who have never heard the Gospel before and fellow
believers in search of a church community.

Theology

We believe in:

  • God as three divine Persons–the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit–who are distinct in function, but equal in power and glory.

  • The infallibility and authority of the Scriptures, both Old Testament and New Testament, with the New Testament fulfilling and succeeding the Old Testament as the authoritative guide for God’s people today.

  • The full divinity and full humanity of Jesus Christ.

  • The need for salvation because of human rebelliousness and self-will.

  • Salvation by divine grace through faith in the sacrifice of the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

  • Jesus Christ as the only way of salvation.

  • The coming personal return of Jesus Christ.

  • The church as the body of Christ, redeemed by Jesus Christ and visibly consisting of committed disciples.

  • Voluntary baptism and church membership.

  • Separation of church and state.

  • Following the way of love in human relations, including refraining from participation in military and other violent force.

Our church is a member of CMC, an Anabaptist church organization.

We want people to know Jesus in new ways, while proactively representing God's kingdom and Jesus in their communities.

leadership philosophy

We believe in shared leadership. A team of elders leads the church, and additional roles in the church are shared among members of the congregation.

We want all members to have opportunities to use their strengths to serve the church and community.

A team of teachers provides weekly sermons for the congregation. The team uses an expository approach, teaching through books of the Bible and focusing on bringing biblical truths into a modern understanding and application.
